How to Write a Good Term Paper
A good term paper is one that has all the elements that are expected to be present in an A level assignment. The assignment should be very well presented and attract the attention of the reader or tutor at once. No matter how well written your work is if it lacks the basic visual appeal then it loses the interest of the reader. Therefore, it should be neatly typed and consist of a cover sheet which has the title, name of the student, name of the course, name of the tutor and submission date on it. It should also have a table of contents especially if the assignment is lengthy or divided into many parts. The headings and subheadings should be written in consistent font size and they should be able to give a gist of what is to come in that section.
The assignment should be written in clear and concise language. There should be no redundant or irrelevant information. The idea is that it should show that the student has indulged in proper research. The quotes should not be very lengthy, as they will not give the student enough space to exhibit their own viewpoints regarding the topic. After all, the tutor is more interested in knowing about his student's thought process than that of others.
There should be three different parts of the work. The introduction is the first part where the main idea of the assignment is presented. The middle part of the paper is the body of the assignment which consists of secondary, but strong ideas. Each paragraph of this part of the essay covers a new aspect of the issue. Finally, the conclusion is the summary of all that has been discussed in the earlier paragraphs.
The number of words in your assignment should always be in accordance with the word limit instructed by your tutor. Don't write more in order to impress your tutor. Your marks can be cut if the words exceed that which is required. The word count of your assignment should exclude the title of the term paper the table of contents and the contents of the reference page. Write the exact number of words just where your essay comes to an end. If you have been advised to consult a specific number of sources then don't consult less than what has been specified.
The quotes within the assignment should be cited in the style instructed by the tutor. Furthermore, the work should be free of plagiarism. Make a separate page of references and give all the details about the sources used in alphabetical order of the names of the authors. You might be asked to make these references according to a particular style, for example, Harvard, MLA, APA, etc. Gather information about how to cite using the style that you have been instructed. There are a number of websites and stylebooks that would guide you in this.
A good term paper can only be written if you do it diligently and with interest. Consider it an opportunity to learn new things and revise what has been taught to you in your course. If you pay attention to all the above-mentioned guidelines you can produce an excellent piece of work.
