Bristol, Vermont, is a small town in the Green Mountains' foothills. Its historic downtown is a National Historic District filled with restaurants, cafes, and shops selling souvenirs, clothes, and regional artwork. Among the many annual celebrations in the area are a summer music festival, street fairs, an autumn Harvest Festival, and a race to the finish line in an outhouse on Independence Day. Concerts by local bands in the summer on the village green date back to the Civil War.
